No least than 67 commercial brands were suspended by the Paraná Agricultural Defense Agency (Adapar) because it presented lower than the average efficiency on the control of Asian rust in soybeans. Outside of those products – which cannot be recommended – other 24 brands were considered “suitable for recommendation”, being re-evaluated in the 2016/2017 crop.

According to Adapar, this measure was adopted to protecthe soybean crop attack by the Asian Rust (fungus Phakopsora pachyrhizi) and preserve the active ingredients that yet control it. The agency affirms that it will continue to enforce fallowing and the seedling calendar.

According to the norms of the official agency (Adapar No. 91, 2105/2015), an agrochemical that could only remain registered as recommendable in Paraná to have obtained the efficiency of 80% at the plague control or the disease target. The minimum acceptable level is to have an efficiency greater than the already registered agrochemicals.

The Brazilian Agricultural Research Company (Embrapa) points out in the last publications that the most agrochemicals registered to control the Asian rust on soybean present low efficiency. The main problem of this fungus resistance of active principles is the repetition of the use of the same fungicides over the years.

The list of suspended products can be found at the Adapar page:
