Thunder Seed introduced a new line of soybeans that’s been a decade in development. Roundup Ready 2 Xtend soybeans provide high yields and maximum weed control. The beans received import approval from China’s Ministry of Agriculture on Feb. 3 opening up availability for the 2016 growing season.

“As growers ourselves, it has always been important to introduce new seed technologies that resist weeds and disease and enhance yields,” said Larry Mueller, executive sales director for Thunder Seed. “Monsanto spent years testing and perfecting this variety and we’ve found it to be a powerful seed with high yield potential.”

Thunder Seed, a farmer-owned company focused on top genetic traits and high yields, offers a large selection of Roundup Ready 2 Xtend soybeans varieties.  Roundup Ready 2 Xtend soybeans will be available through the Thunder Seed dealer network in both the U.S. and Canada. In Canada, Thunder Seed is offering more varieties than any other seed company through their distributor Quarry Seed.
“We’re providing the largest selection of Roundup Ready 2 Xtend soybeans varieties to offer growers a range of options that meet their soil conditions,” said Ron Gendzelevich, Quarry Seed president. “We are committed to putting the right seed in the hands of the growers so that they get maximum results.”

Roundup Ready 2 Xtend soybeans combine the high-yield potential of the GenuityRoundup Ready 2 Yield soybean with powerful glyphosate and dicamba tolerance, making it the industry’s first biotech-stacked seed. That combination gives growers increased weed control, including protection for glyphosate-resistant weeds, as well as residual weed control for 14 days and the option to apply two different herbicides for managing hard-to-control weeds.

The Roundup Ready 2 Xtend soybean approval comes at an ideal time for growers.

“Right now, growers are in the process of selecting soybeans for the 2016 growing season, and we’re excited to get them started with the most advanced genetics yet,” Mueller said. “We had the chance to witness the Roundup Ready 2 Xtend soybeans incredible yield and weed resistance during a July plot tour in Arthur, North Dakota. Growers have been anxiously waiting to replicate these same fantastic results in their own fields.”
