China’s pesticide trade encountered setbacks in 2015qrcode

According to the data released by the Chinese General Administration of Customs, China imported 90,000 tons of pesticide in year 2015, down regulated 2.7% on a y-o-y base. Import value of this year also decreased 2.8% to $ 750 million this year. Except import value of herbicide grew 4.9%, all three major categories’ import volume and value went down at different degree. Insecticide import volume was down by 1.1% to 10,000 tons while value decreased 13.3% to $ 140 million. Fungicide import decreased 22.1% or 12.7% to 23,000 tons or $ 280 million respectively. This year China imported 26,000 tons or $ 190 million herbicide, with volume down regulated 10.1% and value grew 4.9%.

This year, China’s overall export encountered setbacks, with speed of export volume growth slowing down and value decreased the first time in the near 5 years. The country export a total of 1,175,000 tons of pesticide in 2015, which increased slightly by 1.2% but value decreased 14.5% to $ 3.55 billion. Fungicide export recorded a relatively positive growth with volume and value up 10.2% and 5.3% to 83,000 tons and $ 435.4 million. Insecticide export volume and value down regulated 5.6% and 15.6% to 225,000 tons and $ 900 million respectively. Herbicide export volume went up slightly by 1.7% to 820,000 tons while value decreased 18.1% to $ 2.1 billion.
