Dow AgroSciences UK (DAS) hosted representatives from the food chain (from growers to traders) from Europe, the Middle East and Africa to dialogue on the Company’s recently launched innovative and effective insecticides, Isoclast™ Active (Sulfoxaflor) and Spinetoram. Both molecules are registered at EU level and have now been entered into the process to receive national registrations of UK.

The event organised by Dow AgroSciences Food Chain Network included testimonials from producers and distributors during  the FRUIT LOGISTICA fair, which exhibit the latest innovations, products and services at every link in the global supply chain.

“Through years of significant investment in R&D, we are able to provide innovative solutions to farmers to address the challenging pest problems in growing key crops for consumers, such as fruits and vegetables which are essential for a healthy diet,” said Pierre Flye Sainte-Marie, Vice President, EMEA and Pacific, Dow AgroSciences.

Isoclast Active is the first member of a new chemical class of insecticides, which controls critical sap-feeding insect pest problems in key crops with a unique mode of action and excellent knockdown and residual control. Spinetoram is an award- winning new member of the spinosyn insecticide chemical class, obtained from natural processes and a minor synthetic step, which has a new mode of action addressing acute pests such as fruit fleas and flies (e.g. Psylla, Drosophila suzukii). Both are fully compatible with IPM (Integrated Pest Management) schemes.

“Pear and Apple farmers are currently struggling to control very damaging pests such as the pear Psylla. We welcome new innovations in this domain to integrate an ever-scarcer toolbox and support a sustainable and competitive sector”, said Daniel Sauvaitre. President of the French Association of Apples and Pears Growers (ANPP).

“Our industry faces ongoing loss of critical crop protection tools; it is essential that new tools are developed to address critical pests providing new mode of actions and accepted new chemistry in the EU context”, said Lindi Benić, who represents South African Pome, Stone and Table grapes industry.

Dow AgroSciences, leading in herbicides for crops such as cereals and rice, announced just last year its plans to launch six new molecules and a number of other breakthrough solutions in Europe, Middle East and Africa . These new molecules are the result of the Company’s strong commitment to and investment into finding innovative solutions that benefit farmers across the world. Through large exporters who have contacts with small farmers, Dow AgroSciences provides product stewardship support with a focus related to food chain aspects such as MRLs (Maximum Residue Limits) and PHIs (Pre Harvest Intervals).
