Adama announced the launch in Brazil of the Voraz® insecticide, a solution for the Bt technologies. After five years of investments on research and development, the product will be on sale since January in the South American country.

Voraz® acts as a hybrid because it brings a unique product combined with different action mechanisms that combat caterpillars, even the most complex, on the diverse crops. The insecticide is aimed even to those plagues that present resistant to the Bt genes, among them Helicoverpa and Spodoptera.

The caterpillars are considered one of the major problems for Brazilian agriculture with regard to the difficulty of control and costs. According to Crop Life Latin America, US$ 7.5 billion per year is spent on crop protection and development of seeds just to combat this type of plague.

Some common agricultural techniques in Brazil, as the succession of crops like soybeans, corn, wheat and cotton, made caterpillars to adapt, besides other polyphagous species arising. These plagues started to threaten all the agricultural production system because of the lack of effective tools of simultaneous control.

"Voraz® is a hybrid because it brings in only one product the combination of two action mechanisms that combat caterpillars, even the most complex, on the most diverse crops, including the ones that presents some resistance to the Bt genes, among them Helicoverpa and Spodoptera, the latter is seen by experts as the most predominant in the next five years. This means simplicity, more efficiency of Bt tools and an economy of up to 50% when summing the expenditures with fuels and agrochemical applications, without accounting the gains with productivity and time optimization,” explains Adama's portfolio manager, Pedro Singer.
