Turkish agrochemical sales for 2007 are expected to be up by 10-15% against last year's level, says the country's agrochemical industry association, the ZIMID. Agrochemical sales for 2006 rose by 14.7% to Euro 194.6 million ($244.5 million) against 2005. The Turkish agrochemical market has been growing for the last few years, the ZIMID said.

"The market is still recovering after the market turmoil in 1999-2000," the association's general secretary, Dr Murat Kantarci, says. Sales peaked in 1999, at Euro 194.5 million, but fell by 22.6% over the next two years. They reached their lowest level in 2004, at Euro 149.4 million.

The insecticide segment remains dominant, registering sales of Euro 76.7 million in 2006, which were up 18.7% over 2005. Fungicides saw the largest rise in sales. They were up by 20.3%, while herbicides registered the lowest increase at just 7.5%.
