Monsanto has launched VT PRO3 this week in Brazil, the corn technology that combines higher yields with pest control. This product offered flexibility in weed management through glyphosate tolerance. The introduction occurred in the Show Rural Coopavel, which is held in the city of Cascaval, Paraná until February 6.

Corn Biotechnology Manager at Monsanto, Guilherme Lobato, explains that in order to protect the root, VT PRO3 pushes the potential of yields. "The well nourished plant maintains the balanced root system, improves the physiological performance and favors the good development of the root. It is a product with unique solutions," said Lobato on the technology that is now available for the second corn crop.

"VT PRO3 has two Bt proteins against aerial part pests and an specific Bt protein to control the root worm (Diabrotica speciosa), a pest that is hidden in the soil and feeds on the corn roots, shrinking the water absorption capacity, nutrients and the crop's productive potential," added the Monsanto manager. The technology acts also against pests that attack the corn leaves, stems and cob.

According to Monsanto's Pest Management director, João Oliveira, the farmer is not able to see the damages that the root worm causes, identifying the attacks after the damage is already irreversible. VT PRO3 is an innovative technology that bring effective protection from the root worm," concluded João.
