EU forecasts grain area flat and oilseeds down in 2014qrcode

European grain plantings area is forecasted to dip by 0.1% to 59.7 million ha in 2014, according to the report published by the European Union trade association, Coceral, in December. Rye and sorghum planting areas of EU member states are forecasted to slip significantly by 16.5% and 17.4% to 2.13 million ha and 1.13 million ha, respectively.
 
Oilseeds planted area is forecasted to fall by 1.3% to 11.9 million ha in 2014, soybean area of EU member states is expected to increase by 16.8% to 549 thousand ha.
