Kaiima Bio-Agritech establishes U.S. operations

Kaiima Bio-Agritech, an Israel-based genetics and breeding technology company, announced that it has established a wholly owned subsidiary in the U.S. to lead its North American activities, and appoints Sharon Berberich to head these operations.

The U.S. office, located in St. Louis, Missouri, is part of Kaiima's global mission to bring the benefits of its Enhanced Ploidy™ technology to key crop growing markets.

Sharon Berberich joins Kaiima following a long and successful career in the seed industry where she held several senior positions with Dow AgroSciences LLC, Monsanto Company and The Donald Danforth Plant Science Center. Ms. Berberich's background includes technology and product development, regulatory affairs, business development, licensing and M&A.

“Kaiima’s technology can boost the productivity of important crops above and beyond that realized by traditional breeding or biotechnology and has the potential to be a major influence in the next “Green Revolution” said Sharon Berberich. "I am excited to help lead the expansion of the business to North America" she added. "We chose St. Louis as the base of our U.S. operations because of the region’s unique ecosystem that combines an entrepreneurial environment with strong plant science research and commercial activity. We are specifically excited to work with BioSTL, an organization committed to nurturing business relationships in the region, with a new initiative that focusses on St. Louis-Israel collaborations".

Kaiima's non-GMO, EP™ technology successfully harnesses the benefits of genomic multiplication in plants, which is considered one of the most important evolutionary processes that occurs naturally in plants.  When applied to high-impact food and energy crops, EP™ significantly boosts the plants’ productivity. Kaiima partners with seed companies and research organizations that develop elite varieties, adapted to important growing regions in key agricultural markets.

“Sharon brings extensive experience and knowledge of the seed sector that makes her a perfect fit for Kaiima” said Dr. Doron Gal, CEO of Kaiima. “We are very happy to have Sharon on board and look forward to her advancing our solutions for the benefit of growers in North America,” added Gal.
