A former Monsanto Company executive has left to lead business development at Kansas City-based agribusiness company FarmLink LLC.

Before joining FarmLink, Randy Barker spent 10 years at Monsanto, most recently as global customer experience lead. Barker also served lead for Monsanto’s Roundup Ready PLUS Weed Management and Acceleron Seed Treatment platforms, as well as the company’s seed traits business manager and vice president of chemistry at Monsanto Canada. Barker left Monsanto on Oct. 3, according to a spokeswoman for FarmLink.

A Monsanto spokesman said Barker’s position has not been filled at this point.

At FarmLink, Barker will be the managing director of business development. In August, FarmLink announced it had closed on a $40 million round of Series B financing led by OpenAir Equity Partners. That came on the heels of an announcement in July that the company has partnered with the Creve Coeur-based American Soybean Association to promote FarmLink’s “TrueHarvest” tool.

The TrueHarvest benchmarking platform is meant to help farmers anticipate how their land will perform based on data from similar fields and looking at factors like sun, water, topography and soil type, all to help growers boost yields.
