The US EPA has permitted an additional 3 years, until October 6, 2017, to use existing stocks of all fenamiphos (trade mark as nemacur) products from Bayer CropScience. The EPA has established an end-use date for existing stocks of all fenamiphos products of October 6, 2014. However, on August 5, 2014, the Agency received a request from the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA) to allow the continued use of existing fenamiphos stocks past the 2014 deadline, in light of the stocks that remain in users' hands and the lack of effective alternatives to treat nematode infestations on established turf.

Bayer voluntarily cancelled the registration of fenamiphos in 2007. Sale and distribution of existing stocks by persons other than the registrant were allowed until October 5th 2012. The GCSAA said that golf course owners purchased a 10-year supply of fenamiphos in 2008. The EPA noted that it was not aware of the volume of inventory in the hands of golf course owners at the time, when it extended the phase-out in 2011. The agency concluded that it is more cost-effective to allow the use of stocks rather than transporting the substances over potentially lengthy distances to a pesticide disposal facility.
