Container recycling up 8% in Chile‏qrcode

A volume of 146,265 of agrochemical containers in Chile were collected in the first semester of 2014. The number represents an increase of 8% when comparing with the same period of last year, according to data of the "Program of Empty Containers Management" of that country, which is managed and co-financed by the National Association of Manufacturers and Importers of Phytosanitary Products.
 
In the first six months of this year, farmers delivered a total of 505,165 empty packages of phytosanitary products in 32 centers of collection and other 18 certificated places. The region with the highest adoption was O'Higgins, which collected 34,923 kilos of plastic material, an equivalent of 23% of the total in the nation. Right after, comes the Metropolitan Region of Santiago with 28,463 kilos (20% of the country) and the Maule Region that delivered 23,685 kilos (16%).
 
The Program of Empty Containers Management receives containers of rural producers freely and applies the triple laundry on collection centers and in mobile points. The material is cut and destined for recycling in form of alternative fuel. Farmers receive a documents certifying the delivery.
