The Brazilian National Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa) and aerial pesticide applicator association (Sindag) are carrying the most outreaching study on technology of aerial application of agchem in Brazil. The study evaluates the types of chemicals and its techniques to seek the most effective model on combating pests.

The project will have a total investment of R$ 1.5 million (nearly $ 639,767). Embrapa provides researches and laboratories, as well as the planning, statistical evaluation, and publication of scientific results. Sindag guarantees the planes, equipments and personnel at the evaluated areas.

The research includes the use of bioindicators, sensors over the crops and on the perimeter of the sprayed areas and non-manned vehicles to supervise the applications. Additionally, the research also cover agchem drift control.

The field research started in the end of 2013 with a pioneer experiment in the sector of agchem applications on the combat to spittlebug (Mahanarva Fimbriolata) on sugarcane crop in Conceição das Alagoas, state of Minas Gerais. Others experiments conducted on orange in São Paulo, soybeans in Goiás, rice in Rio Grande do Sul and sugarcane in Paraná.

"The researches will first evaluate how the applications are being done, then we evaluate what could be improved. The intention is to pass immediately to the market the corrections and improvements that we achieve during the studies", said Sindag counselor Júlio Kämpf.
