Paraguay seeks to create special soybean variety for Chaco regionqrcode

The Paraguayan Chamber of Exporters of Grains and Oilseeds (Capeco), the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), and the University of Missouri, started joint studies to find soy materials to be adapted to the conditions of the Paraguayan Chaco region.
 
The first visit by U.S. investigators is scheduled or August 12 to 14 when they will be discussing the production scene of the Western Region. On August 13 and 14 experts will be visiting Chortitzer Cooperative’s experimental fields located in Loma Plata, and the fields of Fernheim Cooperative in Filadelfia.
 
Paraguay’s Western region has potential for the development of mechanized farming business, plus it has been estimated that it can offer about two million hectares for growing soybean and corn in a near future; especially in Central and Upper Chaco, according to projections made by Capeco.
