Bayer CropScience has launched Sivanto Prime (flupyradifurone), a product aimed to protect vegetable crops, in the Central American market Honduras and Guatemala. It is a systemic insecticide, mostly for tomatoes, chili peppers, potatoes, and melons, and is highly suitable tool for use in anti-resistance management programs for insect control.

SIVANTO® prime acts on the central nervous system of target pests as an agonist of the insect’s nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (nAChR), Bayer notes. The lasting effect of the product results in disruption of the insect’s nervous system and its subsequent collapse.

"Our region in Central America is the first in the world to rely on this innovative solution to control sucking pests such as whitefly, aphids and paratrioza, which are the main causes of crop damages and economic losses", commented René Martin, a Regional Crop Manager of Coffee, Melon, and Vegetables.

Sivanto Prime will be available for Central American agriculture, "and it is a versatile insecticide with high quality standard, responsible with the environment and beneficial insects, ideal for vegetable crops produced in Guatemala applied in a foliar form and directly in the soil", said Martin.
