Several components have been introduced in the latest green revolution crop production technologies, so that it results in high yield crop production of improved variety. In agriculture sector, the use of new agro-chemicals and intensive crop cultivation techniques are adopted to boost the production. But for the past few years, periodical unabated explosions of whiteflies, bollworms, pod borers, defoliators, coccids, cutworms, plant hoppers etc., have emerged as direct disease transmitters and crop damagers in different regions of the world and have made agriculture less remunerative and highly risk prone.  This has aroused the need of crop protection techniques and products that can help to prevent the crop from damages and reduce the amount of risk involved in agricultural sector.

Research carried out by experts have revealed that high percentage of yield losses in major crops is due to insect and in order to reduce these losses, appropriate crop protection technique  and products should be adopted that can act as plant growth regulators. Without using any crop protection product or technique, the crop yields may be declined drastically. The entire effort of farmers and agriculture experts will be of no use in absence of crop protection techniques. Crop protection against various pests is a necessary measure in agricultural sector. Pest is generally used and sprayed for insects and organism, which causes economic damage to the plants. For crop protection, pest management is adopted on natural biological factors that control the pest outbreak and in doing so chemical is used as the last option. In pest management, spraying of chemical pesticides is judiciously and sensibly handled to protect the crop and its production.

A proper crop protection and pest management strategy should be developed and farmers should be frequently provided with the training for adopting the correct way of farming. A farmer should be trained for proper seed treatment and field preparing for growing the seed. The knowledge on these aspects will help the farmer to successfully implement the crop protection techniques right from the beginning. Moreover a farmer should also be trained for selecting suitable pesticide and spraying at the right moment so that it successfully acts as plant growth regulators. Another important aspect of crop protection and pest management strategy is seed treatment, which not only protects the seeds from soil and seed borne diseases, but also gives protection to the emerged seedlings from sucking insect pests. Seed treatment can also act as a plant growth regulators as non practice of seed treatment can affect the crop emergence and its early growth. Seed treatment is another technique of crop protection.
