EU grain area forecasted to dip by 0.5% in 2014

Grain planting area in EU member states is forecasted to drop slightly by 0.5% to some 56.9 million ha this year, and non-EU countries, including Serbia, Bosnia, FYROM and Albania, are forecasted to plant about 2.5 million ha grains. Soft wheat planted area in the EU is expected to increase by about 2.6% to around 23.8 million ha. Barley is expected to fall by 2.2% to some 12.0 million ha.
Oilseeds planted area in EU member states is forecasted to fall by 0.4% to around 11.6 million ha in 2014, and non-EU countries,only including Serbia, Bosnia, FYROM,are forecasted to plant 414 thousand ha oilseeds crops.
