Meanwhile cotton planting area will continue to decrease.

The survey shows that government’s earlier announcement of purchasing prices of wheat and rice this year has stabilized farmer’s expectation on incomes from crop growing, which mobilizes greatly farmer’s positivity toward crop growing. The expected crop growing area will maintain to be stable with a slight increase of 0.3% year on year while vegetable planting area will continue to increase.

Due to the soil utilization in winter for multiple cropping in southern region and the development of facility vegetable in northern region, the vegetable growth this year is expected to increase by 1.87%.

Because of the measures to decrease wheat and increase oilseed in southwest region, also as a result of the soil utilization in winter for oilseed growth in the provinces of Hunan and Hubei, oilseed planting area this year is expected to increase by 0.23%. It is expected that this year sugar seed planting area will increase by 1.16%. Cotton area is expected to decrease by 7% due to the lower profitability.
