The US Environmental Protection Agency(EPA) has approved major changes to the Micromite 80WGS insecticide label for citrus crops.

The product, from Lawrenceville, Ga.-based Chemtura AgroSolutions, contains the active ingredient diflubenzuron. It acts as an insect growth regulator, affecting eggs and nymphs.

The changes include a post-harvest interval reduction to seven days from the previous 30 days and a reduced retreatment interval of 30 days for full-rate applications.

The label updates also allow for split applications, but they must be at least 30 days apart. In addition, lemons, limes and 26 other citrus cultivars have been added. The label contains no bee restrictions.

Among the pests it controls are Asian citrus psyllid, citrus root weevils, leaf miners and citrus rust mites.
