AgroPages-Application withdrawn for approval of cultivation of Roundup Ready sugarbeet in the EU-Agricultural news

Given the political and social situation in Europe, KWS has decided not to put any further resources into developing Round up Ready sugarbeet for cultivation in the EU.

Consequently, the application submitted to the EU Commission in 2008 for approval to grow Round up Ready sugarbeet in the EU has been withdrawn. KWS will continue their long-term biotechnology projects with sugarbeet, such as the development of winter beet and virus resistance and the use of yield genes, with undiminished efforts.
