China's agchem production down 12% in Aug 2013

China’s agrochemical production went down 12.4% to 227,226 tons in Aug 2013 comparing to the same period of last year. The volume of pesticide production from Jan to Aug slightly rose by 1.6% to 2,124,126 tons, according to the National Bureau of Statistics of China (NBS).

In Aug, Herbicide production rapidly decreased by 89.3% to 114,282 tons, representing 50.3% of the total volume, and remained to be the largest category. Insecticide production also went down by 3.2% to 62,075.2 tons, accounting for 27.3% of the total volume. Fungicide showed a double digit increase of 33.1% to 12,159.1 tons, making up 5.4% of the total volume.
Jiangsu surpassed Shandong to be the largest agrochemical production province. Volume of Jiangsu in June is 56,526 tons, followed by Shandong with 54,472 tons and Hubei 23,304 tons.
