Pablo Vaccaro, vice-president of Monsanto South America (including Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Bolivia and Chile), confirmed that the multinational company has decided to stop charging the royalties for the use of the RR1 technology in Paraguay.

For several months, Monsanto and Paraguayan soybean growers were engrossed in an argument, which even got to court, about the payment of US$ 4 per ton of exported RR1 soybeans.

“We decided to stop charging for the use of RR1 technology this year and to make a transition to the new technology we are launching very soon in the country. That is why we are going to stop charging for RR1 technology and we are going to do likewise with the new technology from next year on”, Vaccaro insisted.
