CropLife America (CLA) supports sound stewardship practices that farmers and other users of crop protection products can follow to help minimize potential impacts on pollinators.

The new label language for neonicotinoid insecticides announced by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) clarifies measures that applicators must follow to provide proper protection for honey bees and other pollinating insects.

"Under the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA), product labels are the law when it comes to the responsible use of crop protection products. When used according to EPA-approved product label instructions, neonicotinoid insecticides help farmers protect their crops against pests while having minimal impacts on pollinators.

The label language EPA has required here supplements the continuous efforts of registrants, farmers and applicators to carefully steward the use of neonicotinoid insecticides and other crucial crop protection products. CLA is committed to working with EPA on implementing the new label language. "
