According to the data released by the Chinese General Administration of Customs, there was robust growth for China’s pesticide export in the first half year of 2013.

Pesticides export in June increased 29.6% and 44.6% in volume and value terms compared to the same period of 2012. Howerver, pesticide import only saw a 2.7% increase in term of volume and was valued at $ 46 million with 6.5% down comparing to the last year.

The country imported 42400 tonnes of pesticides in total in the first half of 2013, with a growth of 9.7% in volume, reaching $ 411 million. Pesticide export increased 27.9% to 605300 tonnes, with export valued at $ 1.969 billion.

Import specifics

Fungicide is the largest category in June’s pesticide import, which increased in volume and value terms to 2200 tonnes and $ 23.17 million. Herbicide import saw a rapid decrease of 31.9% to 1100 tonnes. Insecticide import was 700 tonnes and valued at $ 9 million.

During the first 6 months of 2013, fungicide’s import displayed double digit increases to 15200 tonnes and $ 171 million in terms of volume and value. Import volume of insecticide was up by 7.7% to 5800 tonnes and value grew 22.1% to $ 106 million. Herbicide import showed a decrease of 2.0% to 14400 tonnes, but value increased to $ 94 million.

Export specifics

Herbicide is the largest category in export with volumes increased 31.3% to 70300 tonnes. Export value of herbicides maintained substantial growth of 54.4% to $ 213 million. Insecticide export rise 49.6% to 25100 tonnes, and fungicide decreased 9.1% to 5600 tonne.

During the first 6 months, herbicide export growing steadily with 34.7% and 45.6% in terms of volume and value. Insecticide export reached 116600 tonnes and valued at $ 454 million. Fungicide export saw a minor decrease of 0.5% in term of volume but was up 7.5% in term of value.
