Syngenta this year introduces SY Harrison, an AgriPro® brand soft red winter wheat, to help Mid-South and Southeast growers withstand variable conditions.

“SY Harrison takes yield performance to the next level in the Mid-South and Southeast regions,” said Syngenta’s Gary Moore, the regions’ key account lead. “New SY Harrison is a broadly adapted variety with high yield potential no matter the conditions. It joins other top-performing Syngenta varieties like Coker 9436, which placed fourth and fifth in the North Carolina yield contest.”

In addition to handling diverse growing conditions, SY Harrison also offers very good stripe rust tolerance. With medium maturity and medium plant height, it shows very good standability, which helps prevent lodging in adverse weather.

As winter wheat growers prepare for the upcoming planting season, Syngenta recommends implementing an integrated approach to crop management. For growers who plant early, an insecticide seed treatment will help the crop start strong and help reduce yield loss caused by insects, such as aphids and Hessian fly.

“With seed treatments like Vibrance® Extreme fungicide and Cruiser® 5FS insecticide, protection begins the moment seeds are planted,” Moore said. “As the season progresses, scouting and applying foliar fungicides become important. Growers who choose an integrated management approach will greatly benefit at harvest time, having maximized both their wheat yield and profit potential.”
