Bayer CropScience plans to expand its formulation plant located in Kwinana, Western Australia. Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (JEC) was awarded a contract from Bayer CropScience Australia to perform early stage engineering for the expansion project.

Officials did not disclose the contract value.

Jacobs is generating and updating as-built site documentation to develop a design and cost estimate for a new bulk unloading and mixing system. After early stage engineering, subject to required approvals, Bayer intends to proceed the project into engineering procurement and construction management phases.

The project is expected to significantly increase Bayer’s production capability at Kwinana and improve its ability to service the Western Australian agricultural sector.

Jacobs Group Vice President Tom Quinn stated, “We are delighted to be working with Bayer on this important capacity expansion project. We look forward to supporting the project objectives by integrating our strong local capability in the region, along with our global sector experience.”

The Kwinana operation is responsible for formulation and distribution of broadacre products for Western Australia, and supporting South Australia and Victoria.
