On 9th May, significant progress was reached in the Yangtze protection program of the High-Tech Zone of Changzhou, Jiangsu Province, China, which is driving the high-quality economic development of the High-Tech Zone of Changzhou.

At a conference, Jiangsu Changlong Chemical, Jinlong Biochemical, Huajie Chemical and Linjiang Chemical signed a letter of intent to relocate. It is also reported that 10 chemical works are scheduled to shut down, while 25 will be renovated and 7 chemical works within 1 km of Yangtze will be closed to gradually solve the problem of “Yangtze being surrounded by chemical works”.
Local government has decided to speed up the construction of the information system and the upgrade of the automation system of the chemical enterprises in 52 chemical industrial parks, and will strengthen governmental supervision of the operations of chemical industrial parks, as well as speed up development of odor-free chemical parks. Government supervision departments are working to correct the decentralized and disorderly production, so as to effectively reduce pollutant discharges and environmental risks.
