Nufarm plans to launch insecticide Compact (lufenuron) in the coming months in Brazil. The new product is mainly recommended for control of the caterpillar complex in soybean, corn and cotton crops. According to the company, Compact acts effectively on big problem, such as Spodoptera frugiperda.
Agribusiness experts estimate that the so-called caterpillar complex, if not carefully controlled by farmers, reduces the productivity of a crop by 50%. In Brazil, the estimate is that these pests can transfer losses of around R$ 10 billion to the productive chain.
Product Manager at Nufarm, the agronomist Alexandre Manzini points out that Compact has as its main differential the high quality technical formulation developed for the active ingredient lufenuron. This compound, according to the executive, enables effective management of caterpillars in the three target crops.
According to Manzini, the recommendation is that the producer applies the Compact insecticide as soon as crop monitoring identifies the presence of target caterpillars in plants, preferably in the early stages of development of these insects.
"Compact is a product suitable for Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and insect resistance management in the Brazilian market," summarizes Manzini.
